Rev. James Orange Park
Empowered by a grant from Clorox Co. for a transformative capital improvement project at Reverend James Orange Park at Oakland City, the Friends of the Park and Park Pride entrusted Build-Up as the official labor force. Through months of rigorous community visioning meetings, the project's scope was meticulously defined and approved. Build-Up delivered not just efficient but skilled labor, resulting in a fully rejuvenated park with a state-of-the-art grill pit, upgraded railings, impeccable brickwork, and new roofs gracing several pavilions. This collaborative effort stands as a testament to the strength of our community and the impact of purposeful, skilled craftsmanship.
Clean Energy & Solar
In 2023 STAND-UP, Build-Up, Gemini Energy, and HBCU Green Fund partnered to train an initial cohort of data collectors to assess the energy efficiency of 100 African American churches in Georgia, a pilot program funded by the Department of Energy. The success of this initiative has led to additional plans for training in other energy and climate response areas, including installation of electric vehicle charging stations, and renovating structures to incorporate solar technology.
